TIFFIN – The Heidelberg University Women's Basketball team fell to Baldwin Wallace at home on Valentine's Day, 82-50.
Ashley Ballard led with 10 points, her fifth-career game in double digits.
Morgan Altenburger and
Mya Jones followed with nine each.
With a quiet start to the first,
Jewel Persinger and
Ashley Ballard picked up 3-pointers late in the quarter, as Baldwin Wallace outscored the hosts 28-15.
Heidelberg tallied eight more in the second, where
Morgan Altenburger had two momentous shots thanks to some hard-fought offensive rebounds. BW held a 47-23 edge at the half.
HU opened up with a 10-3 run, forcing a time-out from the guests. Ballard and
Amari Slaughter had back-to-back threes followed by Altenburger and
Emma Keto layups. Baldwin Wallace buckled down for their own scoring spurt through the end, finishing the quarter 64-38.
Despite shooting their worst of the game, Baldwin Wallace scored 18 on 3-13 in the fourth.
Jewel Persinger found her 13th and
Kami Whiteaker's third 3-pointers on the season to close 82-50.
Altenburger had a team-high six rebounds and
Emma Keto dished out three assists.
The Heidelberg women's team will host their season finale on Saturday in a 12 p.m. matchup against Wilmington (5-18, 3-14 OAC).
