After earning a spot as a Second Team All-American by D3football.com, Jo Norris III became the fourth player in program history to receive three All-American honors in the same season.

Defensive lineman Austin Crow was a second team honoree from the AP and the AFCA, and an honorable mention by D3football in 2017. Punter Austin Baker was an AFCA and AP First Team selection and a D3football Third Team honoree in 2018.

UPDATE: 12/19/2024

In addition to the AFCA honor below, Norris was named a Second Team All-American by the Associated Press. He is HU's first AP honoree since Tramon Wiley was a second teamer in 2019.

WACO, Tex. -- For the sixth time in the Scott Donaldson era, the Heidelberg University Football team landed a player on the prestigious America Football Coaches Association All-America Team. Jo Norris III, a native of Lorain, Ohio, was a Second Team honoree, as announced by the AFCA on Tuesday.

The All-America honor was the first for Norris's career. In his final season, Norris limited the opponent's receivers to a 25% completion percentage (7-for-28) when serving as the primary defender. The two-time team captain added an interception, two forced fumbles and one fumble recovery to go along with seven break ups.

He was the recipient of the Ohio Athletic Conference's Lee Tressel Award, given to the top defensive back in the conference. Norris became the third 'Berg player to earn the honor.

Also a force on special teams, Norris returned a punt for a touchdown in Heidelberg's Homecoming win over Muskingum.

Zach Blackiston and Branden Steckel were the last two 'Berg players to receive AFCA All-America accolades, coming in 2022. Norris is the eighth player since 2016 to pick up the honor.

D3football.com and the Associated Press have yet to announce their All-America teams.
