WESTERVILLE, Ohio – Following an impressive showing against Capital University on Saturday, Heidelberg University defensive back Joseph Norris III has been honored as the Ohio Athletic Conference Special Teams Player of the Week. This marks Norris's second career OAC Player of the Week honor.

Last weekend, Heidelberg blew past Capital, 45-22. Down 14-7 and after successfully recovering an onside kick, the Comets drive stalled inside the Berg 25-yard line. Settling for a field goal that would make it a four point game, Norris flew off the right end to block the attempt, while teammate Keyshawn Cunningham returned the block 76-yards the other way to extend the Heidelberg lead.

Late in the first half, Heidelberg burned all three timeouts to force Capital to punt on their final drive. Hoping for some magic, Norris delivered once more, returning the Capital punt 40 yards. This proved to be enough as Heidellberg booted a 24-yard field goal to end the half up by 10.

On the year, Norris III has amassed 13 total tackles, one interception and four pass deflections throughout the four games.

The football team will play host to Marietta this Saturday, October 12th. Kickoff is set for 2:00 p.m.
