WESTERVILLE, Ohio – Following an impressive showing against Muskingum University on Saturday, Heidelberg University defensive back Joseph Norris III has been honored as the Ohio Athletic Conference Special Teams Player of the Week. This marks Norris's third career OAC Player of the Week honor.
Last weekend, Heidelberg tackled Muskingum 52-24. Up 21-10 early in the third quarter, the Berg defense stood tall, forcing the Muskies to punt from deep in their own territory. Norris received the kick at his 34-yard line and danced, dashed, twisted, and turned his way up field, blowing past defenders en route to his third career punt return for a score. This score would prove to be enough, making it 28-10 after the PAT.
On the day, Norris had 3 punt returns for 80 yards and one touchdown.
On the year, Norris III has amassed 19 total tackles, one interception, and six pass deflections.
The football team will travel to Otterbein on Nov. 2 for the Rhine River Cup. Kickoff is slated for 12:00 p.m.
