TIFFIN -- On a rainy Saturday afternoon in Hoernemann Stadium, the Heidelberg University Football team fell to Marietta College, 35-7. Heidelberg slipped to 2-3 overall, and 1-3 in the OAC. Marietta remained unbeaten, improving to 5-0, 4-0.
The Pioneers scored on their first drive of the first quarter, but The Berg tried to answer on the ensuing possession. A 14-play drive came up empty as a 39-yard field goal attempt sailed wide.
Marietta scored on their first two possessions in the second quarter, opening up a commanding 21-0 lead.
Heidelberg put together its best drive of the game late in the second. Going 75 yards in 10 plays, the Student Princes got on the board with a seven-yard touchdown pass from
Alex Arledge to
Micah Willink. Willink juggled the ball, but managed to haul it in for his first career touchdown.
Ethan Ramsdail added the PAT.
The visitors scored once more in the second and led 28-7 at halftime. After a scoreless third, the Pioneers put the final points on the board early in the fourth quarter.
