Box Score NEW CONCORD, Ohio – The Heidelberg University women's basketball team played at Muskingum Saturday afternoon. After postponing Wednesday's game due to sickness, the squad returned to the court in a 68-40 loss against the Muskies.
Numerous younger players for Heidelberg saw heavy time as the scoring leaders were freshmen
Brigid Enright (8),
Kristen Harrah (7) and
Colleen Miller (6).
Unable to get a shot to fall or find a rhythm, the fast paced Muskies outscored Heidelberg 23-2 in the first. Muskingum shot a blistering 71.4% from the field, connecting on 10-14. Miller sank two from the line.
Harrah, who saw a career high 23 minutes in the game, nailed a 3-pointer a minute into the second quarter. With three minutes remaining in the half, Enright and Miller each picked up a layup to enter halftime in a 39-9 deficit.
Out of the half, HU picked up five off of a
Taylor Ratliff 3-pointer and a
Sequoia Bradley layup. Later, Altenburger added two from the charity stripe and a layup. Enjoying a 8-2 spurt at the end, Heidelberg outscored the Muskies 17-11 in the third. They closed the quarter down 50-26.
In the fourth,
Alyssa Martin picked up five points, followed by Enright with four. Muskingum managed to respond well to every Heidelberg basket as they wrapped up the day with a 68-40 victory.
Heidelberg managed three less turnovers than the Muskies. Unfortunately, the Tricolor was out-rebounded 38-27.
The Heidelberg women's basketball team will be in Columbus on Wednesday night as they face the Capital Comets (12-9, 6-8 OAC) for a 7 p.m. tip-off.
