TIFFIN -- After five seasons leading the women's basketball program at Anderson University, Jon Gin has been named the next head coach of the Heidelberg University Women's Basketball program. Gin becomes the 12th head coach in program history.

"I am very excited to welcome Jon as our new head coach of the Women's Basketball program," said Athletic Director Greg Cooper. "Identifying a leader of Jon's caliber -- an accomplished sitting head coach with a strong competitive track record and outstanding character -- positions our program for immediate growth and success from day one."

Gin comes to Tiffin after a successful run with the Ravens, where he helped raise the profile of the program. During his time at Anderson, Gin signed 34 recruits over five years, developed 15 All-Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference players, and coached the HCAC Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year.

"I am honored and excited to accept the head coach position for the Heidelberg Women's Basketball program. I am grateful to the University and the Athletic Department for their trust," said Gin, who earned his undergraduate degree from the University of North Florida and a master's degree from Trevecca Nazarene University. "I look forward to building a competitive program that develops our student-athletes on and off the court while representing The Berg with pride."

At Anderson, Gin installed an up-tempo offensive system that produced one of the most productive scoring teams in the HCAC. During the 2022-23 season, the Ravens led the conference in scoring at 75.3 points per game and ranked among the top 25 nationally in Division III in 3-pointers made, and 3-point percentage. His teams also rewrote several entries in Anderson's women's basketball record book.

Gin's impact at Anderson extended beyond the box score. The Ravens ranked first in the HCAC in home attendance over the last five seasons, averaging 435 fans per home game. His program also earned WBCA Honorable Mention recognition each year, while carrying a five-year cumulative team GPA of 3.442.

"Throughout the interview process, it became clear to the entire search committee that Jon is a coach who cares a great deal about helping his student-athletes reach their full potential," said Cooper. "Jon's diverse experience, both within the region and beyond Ohio, will be instrumental in driving the program forward."

Prior to his time at Anderson, Gin served as an assistant coach at Covenant College from 2019-21, where he helped bring in back-to-back double-digit recruiting classes and worked heavily with the team's defensive system, scouting, player development, academics, camps, and junior varsity program.

Gin also spent three seasons as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at Division II Gannon University. With the Golden Knights, he signed the PSAC Freshman of the Year and a WBCA All-American, helped guide defensive efforts that ranked near the top of the conference, and coordinated camps that drew prospects from nine different states.

Earlier in his career, Gin was an assistant coach at Trevecca Nazarene University, where the Trojans went 36-19 during his two seasons and won a Great Midwest Athletic Conference championship. He also gained experience at Moravian Prep Academy, the University of North Florida, and Florida State's basketball camp.

"I am eager to get started and connect with the players and the Heidelberg community as we pursue success together," said Gin.

His professional involvement includes membership in the Women's Basketball Coaches Association and Asian Coaches Association, selection as an inaugural 2023 NCAA College Basketball Academy Coach, and service as a WBCA Mentor in 2025.
