Six-run second lifts Berg over Oberlin

TIFFIN -- The Heidelberg University baseball team picked up a non-conference win on Tuesday, beating visiting Oberlin College, 7-3.  The top three batters in the Heidelberg lineup -- Camden Farley, Robert Hunt and Eric DeVore each had two hits in the victory.

The Student Princes improved to 9-11 overall.  The Yeomen slipped to 5-12.

Heidelberg took control in the second with a six-run outburst.  Adam McVicker walked, then scored on a double down the left field line by Deaunte Fleming.  After Seth Scoville drew a walk, Thomas Sauer singled to left, scoring Fleming.  Memphis Cutshall hit a comebacker that hit the thigh of the Yeomen pitcher, which loaded the bases.  Scoville sprinted home and scored on a wild pitch before Camden Farley singled in Sauer.

Still in the second, with runners on the corners, Robert Hunt reached on a bunt single -- but the throw from the pitcher sailed down the right field line, which allowed two runs to score easily.

The Yeomen got on the board with an unearned run in the fifth.

The Student Princes got the run back in the sixth.  Hustling out of the box, Farley advanced to third on a dropped infield pop up. He was able to jog home on a blistering double to the right center gap by Eric DeVore.

The Yeomen scored twice in the top of the ninth.

Ridge Clark, making his first career start,  struck out two in five innings of work.  He allowed one unearned run on three hits.  Ryan Keane was perfect in the sixth and seventh, and Cayden Rollins was perfect in the eighth.

Heidelberg may travel to Anderson on Thursday, but that is still up in the air.  The Student Princes will visit Muskingum this weekend for a conference doubleheader.
