Game Recap: Men's Lacrosse |

Early deficit too much for MLAX

RICHMOND, Ind. -- The Heidelberg University men's lacrosse team was unable to climb out of an early hole, falling at Earlham College, 13-8.  David Weaver picked up his first collegiate hat trick in the loss.

The Quakers led 3-0 midway through the first quarter when Weaver took a feed from Jaydon Septer and found the back of the net for his second goal of the campaign.

Earlham scored the next four goals before Heidelberg struck for two tallies from Connor Reese.  The Berg trailed 8-3 at halftime.

The hosts extended their lead to 10-3 in the third, but Heidelberg cut into the deficit with three straight.  Weaver scored with 6:39 in the third, then Jacob Brickman scored with 2:26.

Jason Mills opened the scoring in the third which brought the Student Princes to within four at 10-6.  Earlham answered, and would do enough to keep HU at bay.

Ben Evans and Weaver added goals in the fourth.

Earlham outshot Heidelberg, 45-32, and neither team scored on man-up opportunities.

Cian Howery made 12 saves and Eli Allen caused three turnovers.  Nolan Hatten picked up six ground balls.

Heidelberg returns home for a Saturday matchup with Franciscan University.  The game is slated for a 1 p.m. start.
