Game Recap: Men's Lacrosse |

MLAX falls in Double OT

TIFFIN -- After battling for 65 minutes, the Heidelberg University men's lacrosse team fell in double overtime to Thiel College on Saturday afternoon in Hoernemann Stadium.  The Tomcats tied the game with 72 seconds left, then won it midway through the second overtime period. 

Heidelberg dropped to 0-3 on the young season.  

Alex Bruder had a two-goal performance and registered 10 shots.  

Jaydon Septer dominated the Tomcats in faceoffs, winning 15 or 17.  

Cian Howery made 13 saves in the loss.  

Jason Mills put Heidelberg up 1-0 with a goal less than three minutes into the contest.  

After Thiel had tied the game, Ben Evans and Bruder scored two minutes apart.  Down 3-1, the Tomcats scored twice in the final 20 seconds of the first quarter.  

Conner Reese and Bruder scored the only two goals of the second quarter and HU went into halftime up 5-3.  

The Tomcats returned the favor in the third, scoring the only two goals.  

David Weaver scored a go-ahead goal with 8:47 left in regulation, which gave HU a 6-5 lead.     

Thiel's Chase Lawler tied the game with 1:12 left.  

Both teams had several chances in overtime before Zach Melin found the game-winner for the visitors.  

Thiel held a slight edge in shots, 38-32.  

Heidelberg visits Earlham College on Wednesday.  Gametime in Richmond, Ind., is scheduled for 7 p.m.
