ANDERSON, Ind. -- The Heidelberg University men's lacrosse team dropped its season opener, falling to Anderson, 14-5. The game marked the debut of Heidelberg Head Coach
Mark Cyron.
Of their five goals. four were scored by players making their Heidelberg debut.
Jason Mills had two goals on the afternoon.
It took the youthful Student Princes almost a quarter to settle into the flow of the contest. Anderson took advantage, and built an 8-0 lead in the first 10 minutes.
Alex Bruder's goal with 2:03 left in the first put HU on the board.
Down 9-1 after one, transfer
Jason Mills opened the scoring in the second period with his first of the game. The Ravens led 11-2 at halftime.
Trailing 12-2 in the third,
Tyler Alexander and Mills scored back-to-back goals three minutes apart. Later, down 14-4,
Adam Drotar closed the scoring with a goal at the 9:19 mark of the fourth.
In goal, sophomore
Cian Howery made 14 saves on 27 shots.
Jaydon Septer had a team-high seven ground balls and
Eli Allen caused two turnovers.
The Student Princes host Trine University on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
