WESTFIELD, Ind. -- The Heidelberg University baseball team fell to No. 20 North Central, 12-3, at Grand Park in Central Indiana. The Cardinals took control of the game with a seven-run fifth inning and coasted to victory.
Heidelberg slipped to 0-2 on the young season, and will look to rebound during the annual Florida trip next week.
After racking up a pair of hits on Saturday,
Eric DeVore added three more on Sunday.
The Student Princes got on the board in the top of the first.
Robert Hunt drew a one-out walk and moved to third on singles by
Keaton Mark and DeVore.
Aidan Corrigan drove in Hunt with an RBI fielder's choice.
North Central scored three in the bottom of the inning off of 'Berg starter
Brady Knizner.
Heidelberg cut the deficit in half in the top of the third. DeVore doubled to right center and later scored on a ground out by
Cayden Rollins.
Again, the Cardinals answered right away, plating a single run in the bottom of the third. They added another in the fourth. Ahead 5-2 in the fifth, NCC scored seven in the fifth, highlighted by a grand slam by Paul Beverly.
Deaunte Fleming drove in the final 'Berg run with a single in the eighth that scored DeVore.
Knizner (0-1) went 4.1 innings and struck out four.

John Hassler all worked in relief.
The Student Princes are slated to play eight games in Florida, starting Friday.
