Game Recap: Baseball |

A dreary day on the diamond for Berg Baseball

TIFFIN --  In a very forgettable day at Peaceful Valley, the Heidelberg University baseball team was swept by visiting Ohio Northern University.  The Polar Bears won 9-5 and 13-4 and swept the weekend.

Despite the losses, the Student Princes hit four home runs on the day -- including two by Jake Vanek.

Vanek, Keaton Mark and Cayden Rollins all had three hits on the day.  Rollins drove in four.

Down 5-0 in the fourth, HU got on the board with a sacrifice fly by Rollins and a ground out by Johnny Medvec.

In the seventh, down 9-2, Rollins contributed a two-run single which scored Deaunte Fleming and Robert Hunt.  Rollins added a solo homer to left in the ninth.

In the nightcap, the Polar Bears raced out to a 6-0 lead after the top of the second inning.  Vanek's first homer of the day came in the bottom of the second -- a majestic solo shot to left center.

Vanek's second homer came an inning later.  This blast -- a two-run shot -- was a line drive to right center.

Kyle Jenkins added a line drive home run to left in the fourth.

ONU would add one in the sixth, two in the eighth and three more in the ninth.

The Student Princes will look to rebound next weekend with a four-game set against Muskingum.  Saturday's games are scheduled for New Concord.
