ALMA, Michigan -- The Heidelberg University men's lacrosse team dropped a tightly contested matchup on the road at Alma College on Saturday afternoon by a final score of 13-10.
With the loss, the Student Princes dropped to 1-3 on the season, while Alma improved to 2-3.

Patrick McCarthy led the way with four goals, while
Liam Weaver and
Alex Bruder each netted hat tricks.
In the defensive battle,
Hunter Edwards paced the team with seven ground balls. McCarthy paced the team with two caused turnovers.
Jaydon Septer won the lion's share of faceoffs as he recorded 17 faceoff wins out of 25 attempts.
In the cage,
Quincy Grevious went the distance and stopped a new career high 15 shots.
At the end of the first quarter, the Scots held a 3-1 lead after scoring the game's first three goals. McCarthy grabbed his first goal on a man-up play after a feed from
Hunter Edwards.
In the second quarter, HU responded with a flourish, outscoring Alma 4-1. Bruder (2),
Liam Weaver and McCarthy all struck the back of the net in the period.
Alma recuperated at halftime and proceeded to out-perform Heidelberg by a margin of 7-5 that enabled them to close out the game in their favor. McCarthy struck in both the third and fourth to bring his game tally to four goals. Bruder's man-up goal with 1:52 remaining in the fourth quarter, completed his fourth straight multi-goal game and third of the season with a hat trick.
For the hosts, Connor Alley tallied a game-high five goals, while Chase Hunyadi netted three goals and dished out four assists. Evan Zarotney had a team-best five ground balls and four caused turnovers. In goal, Hank Wickley started and stopped nine shots to earn the win.
Prior to the game against the Scots, Heidelberg had committed 18 penalties, good for 16:30 of penalty minutes. On Saturday, The Berg was whistled for just one 30 second penalty. On the flipside, Alma was called for nine penalties, which created six man-up opportunities. With those chances, HU converted for four goals with a man advantage.
Heidelberg will remain in Michigan over the start of their spring break with a Tuesday afternoon matchup at Adrian College. Faceoff is slated for 4 p.m.
