ADRIAN, Michigan -- After handily winning their season opener, the Heidelberg University men's lacrosse team dropped its fourth straight game, a 15-8 loss at Adrian College on Tuesday. The Student Princes were outscored 9-3 in the second half.
Patrick McCarthy had five goals on nine shots to lead the attack.
Hunter Edwards had a goal, two assists and caused a game-high six turnovers.
Alex Bruder kicked off the scoring with a goal 65 seconds into the contest. Adrian, however, answered with the next two goals.
Up a man, Heidelberg (1-4) tied the match at 2 with a goal by
Patrick McCarthy off a feed by
David Weaver.
After the Bulldogs edged ahead with another goal, McCarthy found an equalizer with one second remaining in the first quarter.
McCarthy scored again early in the second, giving HU a brief 4-3 lead. The hosts would score the next three goals, taking a 6-4 advantage.
Prior to halftime,
Hunter Edwards found the net with a goal, making the score 6-5 at the half.
McCarthy's fourth goal of the game opened the scoring in the second half and knotted the game at 6.
Adrian (4-1) scored five of the game's next six goals -- with McCarthy's fifth of the game serving as the lone HU goal in the run.
Down 11-7 to start the fourth, Edwards fed
Liam Weaver for the opening goal of the period. Undaunted, Adrian would score the next four goals, taking full control of the game.
Adrian held a slight edge in shots, 38-33.
The Student Princes are slated to return to action on Wednesday, March 18, for a home game against Trine.
