Students Princes head to Marietta after bye week

FULL GAME NOTES (PDF)

AFTER GAME FOUR ...

The Student Princes are coming off their bye week in week five of the season and are primed to get back to winning ways on the road at Marietta College in Week Six.

In week four, Heidelberg was upended narrowly at Baldwin Wallace by a final score of 34-33. A touchdown pass from Jimmy Gephart to Dimitri Penick with just over a minute remaining looked to be the difference maker but the Yellow Jackets were up to the task and stopped Berg's two-point conversion attempt for the win.

Gephart connected on two scores and 224 yards through the air with his other passing touchdown going to Maceo Matthews. Tayy Yearby carrined the load on the ground as his 30 rushing attempts went for 126 yards and one touchdown. Verondtae Wilkinson punched in a score from the one-yard line as well from the backfield.

Zach Blackiston had 12 tackles, while Tyler Matuszak added 11 to lead the defensive efforts. Braydi Clark was credited with a fumble recovery in the game as well.

Branden Steckel performed flawlessly on kicking duties for the second week in a row, en route to his second straight OAC Special Teams Player of the Week award. Steckel was two-for-two on field goals and three-for-three on PATs.

In week five, Marietta was knocked off as they traveled to Ohio Northern. The Polar Bears edged the Pioneers 31-23, behind an electric rushing effort from Christiaan Williams, who totaled 183 yards on the ground.

The Pioneers saw Tanner Clark rush for 140 yards and two touchdowns, while Kyle McSweeney passed for 174 yards and a score. On the defensive end of the ball, three Pioneers -- Brent McClure, Carson Stauffer, and Kyle Gallagher -- all had nine tackles each. Stauffer also added a fumble recovery for Marietta.

AROUND THE LEAGUE ...
While Heidelberg and Wilmington remained idle in week five, the other eight schools were in action.

No. 16 John Carroll defended home field and beat Muskingum 31-10. Michael Canganelli rushed for 111 yards and two touchdowns for the Blue Streaks.

No. 2 Mount Union trounced Otterbein 58-0 at home. Once again, the Purple Raiders were dynamite through the air, as D'Angelo Fulford threw for 303 yards and four touchdowns on just 13 completions.

Baldwin Wallace took care of business against Capital, 37-7. Keagan Armitage passed for 310 yards and three touchdowns for the Yellow Jackets.

Ohio Northern also beat the visitors by defeating Marietta 31-23. The Polar Bears used an effective rush behind Christiaan Williams' 183 yards, which included a touchdown.

In week six, just six schools will be on the field as the others take their bye week. John Carroll will travel to Capital, Mount Union will play away to Wilmington and Marietta will host Heidelberg. The first two will kickoff at 1:30 p.m. while the Heidelberg game will start at 2 p.m.
