Box Score TIFFIN -- On the final game of the 2017-18 season, the Heidelberg University women's basketball team fell to Muskingum University, 81-53.
Freshman Megan Siesel paced the Student Princes with 13 points and seven rebounds.
Muskingum jumped out to a 15-0 lead, highlight by four 3-pointers. The Muskies shot lights out from beyond the arc in the first quarter, shooting 60% in the period.
Heidelberg fought its way back to cut the Musky lead to single digits in the second quarter. Siesel sank a pair of free throws with 39 seconds in the half, where the Muskies took a 40-31 lead into halftime.
Midway through the third, Heidelberg battled to within four points. A baseline jumper from Brittanie Ulmer cut the Musky lead to six points. After the Berg got a defensive stop, Lajanae Morman grabbed the offensive rebound and made the putback. Heidelberg trailed 47-43, forcing Muskingum to call timeout.
Out of the timeout, Muskingum closed out the quarter on a 10-0 run, and pulled away from the Student Princes in the fourth quarter. Muskingum's Olivia Besancon finished with a game-high 24 points.
Prior to the game, Heidelberg honored its lone senior, Cynthia Nielsen.
Heidelberg concludes the season with a 4-21 mark.
