Box Score TIFFIN -- The Heidelberg University women's basketball team fell to Mount Union on Saturday, 91-60. A late surge in the second quarter helped propel the visiting Purple Raiders to victory.
Heidelberg has dropped three straight to fall to 3-6 on the season, 1-3 in the OAC. Mount Union improved to 4-5, 2-2.
Alyssa Riley had a team-high 13 points off the bench for the Student Princes, while Maddi Stiles added 12 points.
Neither team led by more than four points through the first 18 minutes. With 1:59 left in the second, Elena Rauhe hit a 3-pointer that put Mount up by six. The shot came as part of a half-ending 11-2 flourish.
Trailing 37-27 at halftime, Heidelberg scored the first five points of the third quarter before Mount Union began to pull away. While HU struggled to find its range, the visitors hit four 3-pointers in the period -- building a 22-point lead. The fourth quarter featured much of the same.
Maddie Crawford led the charge in the frontcourt for HU, tallying nine points and eight rebounds.
The Student Princes return to Sayger Court at Seiberling Gymnasium on Monday for an early-evening matchup with No. 6 Trine University (9-0). The game -- Heidelberg's third top-12 matchup of the season -- is scheduled for 6 p.m.
