TIFFIN – Heidelberg University Women's Soccer starting goalkeeper, Maddi Springer, has been named the OAC Women's Soccer Defensive Athlete of the Week. 

Springer has earned 42 saves across the eight games of the 2026 season, boasting a save percentage of .778. 

Over the past week, Springer saw 40 total shots from John Carroll and Albion. Against JCU, Springer tallied her third shutout of the season, finishing with six saves. Against Albion, the keeper had nine saves – the second most of her career. A major penalty kick save contributed to the nine.

Springer becomes HU Women's Soccer's first OAC Player of the Week honoree since Sydney Hewer on Oct. 21, 2024. 

Heidelberg travels to Case Western Reserve University to take on the Spartans on Tuesday, Sept. 29. Kick off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
