TIFFIN -- For the first time since 2020, a new champion has emerged from the Ron Linhart Memorial Back the Berg Golf Outing. On a picture-perfect Friday at Mohawk Golf & Country Club, 45 teams took to the course in the annual event, now in its 23rd year. When the dust and fireworks settled, the team from the Tiffin YMCA - Buster Ardner, Kevin Ardner, Dave Porter and Ryan Porter won by a single stroke. Their -20 52, aided by an albatross on the 'break the glass' challenge hole, edged out six-time defending champion Chad Fitzgerald and his band of former baseball players, Parker Fronk, Joey Wenning, and Conner Pacella.  

The outing is the largest annual fundraiser for the H Association.

"This is an event our entire staff looks forward to. The mix of local businesses and loyal alumni creates such a fun blend of golfers," said Athletic Director Greg Cooper. "A big thank you goes out to Eric Kulinna and his staff at Mohawk for their assistance. It's a great way to support Heidelberg and to remember the legacy that Ron Linhart left on his alma mater."

Proxy winners included Dennis Green, Todd Hull, John Verdes and Kiki Lorann.

The date for the 2027 outing is tentatively scheduled for Friday, July 23, 2027.
