'Berg Boys fall to MSJ

CINCINNATI, Ohio -- The Heidelberg University Baseball team battled until the final out on Tuesday, but a late run by Mount St. Joseph lifted the Lions to a 6-5 win.

Mount struck early to start the game in the bottom of the first, using a pair of hits to take a 1-0 lead

The Student Princes answered in the third when Sam Schneider reached and set the tone before Bradey Limke drove in two runs with an RBI single that turned into a two-run play, giving Heidelberg a 2-1 edge.

The Lions responded in the fourth with a four-run inning, capitalizing on walks and a sacrifice file to jump ahead, 5-2. But Heidelberg wasn't done.

The Berg Boys chipped away in the seventh as Limke delivered again, ripping a clutch two-run double to cut the deficit to 5-4.

Then came the ninth.

With energy building, HU completed the comeback as Limke reached to spark the rally and Logan Walpole drove in the tying run, 5-5, igniting celebration from the dugout.

Mount St. Joseph had the final answer in the bottom half, stringing together a single, a walk, and a walk-off RBI to secure the 6-5 decision.
