Outdoor Track Season starts

CEDARVILLE, Ohio -- The Heidelberg University Track & Field teams kicked off the outdoor season at the Cedarville Open. The men finished 12th out of 33 teams with 22 points. 

Freshman Jalani Reams finished 5th overall in the men's javelin with a throw of 46.6m.

Also scoring on the men's side, sophomore standout Travis Bolden in the long jump with a mark of 6.73m.

Rounding out the field events, Jesse Vanlerberg with a jump of 11.76m in the triple jump to earn 7th overall. 

On the track– freshman Indoor OAC 1k champion James Henderson finished 3rd in the 800m at a time of 1:56.66. Hudson Black followed, just missing scoring by .23 of a second (1:57.96).

The 4x400 team of Dominick Zaffos, Hudson Black, Augie Schweickert, and James Henderson rounded out the meet with a 5th place finish with a time of 3:29.6. 

Despite no scoring finishes on the women's side, many individuals put up personal best marks against strong competition:

Kylie Cope in the 200m (27.97)
Emily Valencia in the 400m Hurdles (1:10.69)
Amelia Lewin and Kerry Copenhaver in the Weight throw (41.41m, 40.36m)
Lauren Hall and Annabell Hunter in the 800m (2:29.85, 2:33.23)
Vanessa Shanaman, Maddy McCall, and Emma Hintze in the 5k (18:44.83, 19:48.94, 19:50.78)

Up next, the Student Princes will travel to Ohio Wesleyan University on Saturday, April 4th for the Marv Frye Invitational. Running and field events will start at 11am.
