TIFFIN, Ohio -- Back in action for the first time this spring, the Heidelberg University Men's Golf team took top honors at their only home tournament of the year, the Snowball's Chance Invitational. The Student Princes carded a 309-314--623, winning the event by 13 strokes.
Josh Ferdon won medalist honors, shooting a 76-75--151, and winning the event by one stroke.
Matthew Peter was second for the Berg A team. He carded a 75-80--155, placing fifth.
James Johnston was next for the top team, shooting a 78-79--157.
Emerson Grassbaugh was a consistent 80-80--160 for the two day event.
Logan Niese was HU's fifth, shooting an 82-84--166.
The B team was led by
Lance Frankart. Frankart scored an 81-76--157, tying with Johnston for sixth overall.
Nate Kelly (82-79--161) and
Cael Dowdell (81-80--161) tied for 12th.
Max Schneckenburger rebounded well after a tough Sunday, shooting an 87-75--162.
Garrett Wahl rounded out the B team with a 94-90--184.
The C Team had
Brayton Hindall (85-86--171) and
Jack Rinehart (92-79--171) sitting atop the group.
Rusty Oddo was next, carding an 88-89--177.
Colin Jennings (87-94--181) and Matt Kittle (105-92--197) were fourth and fifth for the Cs.
Competing as individuals, Colton Haas shot an 89-84--173,
Brady Bosma went 87-89--176 and
Austin Hammond brought in a 91-94--184.
The Men's Golf team has a busy 10 days ahead of them, weather permitting. Thursday is the OAC Preview at River Greens, followed by the two-day Polar Beaver Invitational, co-hosted by Ohio Northern and Bluffton on Friday and Saturday. After the holiday, HU will compete at the Otterbein Easter Leftovers event on Monday.
