The Heidelberg University Golf Teams competed at separate invitations over the weekend. The men traveled to West Lafayette for the two-day OAC Fall Preview, where they finished seventh out of ten teams. The women were also on the road at John Carroll's Fall Invitational, earning fourth in a field of nine.
MEN
Matthew Peter led the Student Princes, carding a 74-75–149, finishing sixth overall. Peter's 74 marks his season best.
Jimmy Johnston finished second for the team shooting 78-79–157.
Weston Mohler shot a career best on day two, finishing 84-79–163.
Also putting up a career best over the weekend,
Ryan Rettig carded an 88-78–166 round two turnaround. Nathan Hamilton closed out scoring with an 84-85–169 performance.
The B-Team consisted of
Cael Dowdell,
Jack Rinehart,
Rusty Oddo,
Nate Kelly, and
Cohen Stull.
Only playing the first round,
Nate Kelly tallied an 84 on Saturday.
Cael Dowdell finished first for the B-Team with a 77-82–159.
Rusty Oddo followed with an 82-85–167 on the weekend.
Rounding out the team,
Cohen Stull shot 86-82–168, and
Jack Rinehart 82-89–171.
The men will return to the course on October 5th and 6th for Tiffin University's Kyle Ryman Memorial, hosted at Mohawk Golf & Country Club.
WOMEN
Brooke Barnes led the team shooting 81-81–162 on the weekend, finishing third overall at 18-over par.
Claire Recker tied for sixth, carding an 84-81–165.
Lexie Honigford finished 87-96–183 on the weekend.
Cate Reinhart and
Kylie Hostettler rounded out the top five with 96-93–189 and 97-111–208, respectively.
Paige Kearns,
Anzaya Estep, and Adisyn Kramer competed individually at the event. Kearns carded a 96-90–186. Estep finished with a 97-95–192. Following directly behind, Kramer recorded a 100-93–193.
The women will compete on Oct. 8th-9th at Mohawk Golf & Country Club, hosting the Heidelberg JV Invitational.
