GAME ONE: BERG 4-10-1 WILM 2-8-0
Heidelberg struck first with a pair of runs in the opening stanza.
Leah Arnett and
Hannah Hashman set the table, as they often do, with infield singles. After a fielder's choice, a base hit by
Ellie Tressler loaded the bases. Noted dog owner
Abbie Marshall drove in Hashman with a single to left.
Adyson Bowe drove in another with a walk.
In the second, the Student Princes padded their lead with two more runs. Arnett singled with one out, then scored on a double down the line by
Cara Meyer. Tressler followed with an RBI double to center.
The Quakers scored single runs in the third and the fourth, but were unable to inch closer.
Haley Gockstetter was, once again, rock solid in the circle. She threw a complete game, allowing one earned run on eight hits. She fanned three.
GAME TWO: WILM 5-8-2 BERG 4-6-1
Down 1-0 in the third, Heidelberg tied the game with an unearned run. The Quakers retook the lead in the bottom of the inning with a pair of runs.
Heidelberg fought back in the fifth. A one-out error proved costly, as HU scored three unearned runs to grab the lead. Tressler doubled in Hashman, then scored on a double by Marshall. Bowe gave the Student Princes the lead with a triple to center. The Berg led, 4-3.
The lead was short-lived, as the hosts answered with two more in the bottom of the inning.
Down 5-4 in the top of the seventh, Heidelberg was retired in order.
Taylor Forrest went 4.1 innings, allowing five runs (three earned) on seven hits. Gockstetter got the final five outs.

Heidelberg is slated to host Manchester on Tuesday for a non-conference doubleheader. First pitch will be at 3:30 p.m. The twinbill with the Spartans is the first of three home doubleheaders scheduled for the week, but the forecast does not look promising. BergAthletics.com will have the updates.
