NEW WASHINGTON, Penn. -- The Heidelberg University Baseball team was defeated on the road at Westminster College, falling 11-2. With the loss, Heidelberg slipped to 10-9 on the season.
The Titans limited Heidelberg to six hits, two of which came from
Grant Bomer.
Heidelberg picked up an early lead, scoring one in the first without aid of a base hit. The second pitch of the game hit
Braedy Limke. Limke stole second and waltzed to third on a balk. He would score on a double play later in the inning.
The hosts tied the game with a run in the second, then added two more in the third and fourth. Up 5-1 in the seventh, the Titans added two in the seventh and four in the eighth.
Bomer hit a double in the ninth, driving in
Thomas McGuire, but it was too little, too late.
Four arms saw action for the 'Berg pitching staff, with
Cody Caplinger and
Logan Franz each eating up three innings.
Heidelberg returns to the field on Saturday, hosting Wilmington for an OAC doubleheader in Peaceful Valley. First pitch is slated for 1 p.m.
