TIFFIN – On Wednesday, Feb. 4, the Heidelberg University Athletics Department hosted the Girl Power all-sports, all-girls kids' camp in Frann's Fieldhouse, in honor of National Girls and Women in Sports Day.

The event, a first of its kind for The Berg, had 115 campers participating and nearly 100 student volunteers.

Ten different women's athletic programs volunteered their time to coach and mentor campers through each sport station: basketball, volleyball, softball, track and field, golf, soccer, STUNT and cheer, Esports and swim.

Campers started out their evening with coloring pages of popular female athletes and a pizza dinner. Student-athletes interacted with the campers from start to finish, allowing a comfortable space for girls to be girls.

In tandem with a panel and luncheon for students the day before, the Girl Power series impacted nearly 250 students and campers in total. The events brought together a mix of alumni, community professionals, athletics leaders, campus colleagues, and participants of all ages, united by a shared goal: to uplift women and girls.
