TIFFIN – The Heidelberg University Walleye Team traded their target species for yellow perch this past Thursday, heading out onto the waters of Lake Erie with sponsor Tibbel's Marina and Charter Fishing for an unforgettable day on the lake.

Seven members of the Berg squad took to the open water, taking full advantage of Lake Erie's prime autumn perch run. Guided by Captain Zach of Tibbel's Charters, the team dialed in on active schools quickly, bringing home an impressive total of over 160 perch and 32 pounds to the cleaner.

"It was a great day for Walleye and an even better one for Berg perch. Patience is a virtue, but on this trip we didn't even need it", says junior Joe Conti.

Events like these highlight not only the rich fishing opportunities right in Heidelberg's backyard, but also the camaraderie and hands-on experience that Heidelberg University offers their students.

A big thank you to Tibbel's Charter Fishing for a fantastic day on the water and a cooler full of fresh Lake Erie perch.
