LAKESIDE MARBLEHEAD, Ohio -- The Heidelberg University Walleye Fishing Team kicked off its inaugural outing in unforgettable fashion today, reeling in over 50 walleye during an action-packed trip on Lake Erie.

With blue skies and perfect fall conditions, the team fished aboard EyeHooker Charters under the expert guidance of Captain Bill Hitchcock and First Mate Ryan. The crew didn't disappoint. Among the impressive haul was a monster walleye topping over 30 inches, a thrilling catch that set the tone for what promises to be a standout season.

Team members Maggie Milbery, Joe Conti, Manny Aller, and Blake Hershey each played a role in making the day one to remember, celebrating not just big fish but the beginning of a new tradition at Heidelberg.

"One exciting day for Berg walleye fishing. A first for the university—and what a first it was," said Advisor Tony Patrizi. "We are excited to share this club with a variety of students, no matter their background."

The club's mission goes beyond fishing; it's about building community, embracing the outdoors, and creating opportunities for students to experience the rich sport of walleye fishing -- many for the first time.

With their first trip now in the books and plenty of stories to tell, the Berg anglers are already looking forward to what's next. One thing's for sure: the Heidelberg Walleye Fishing Team has arrived -- and Lake Erie knows it.
