Women's Wrestling wins Alfred St. Open

ALFRED, New York -- In a season of firsts for the upstart Heidelberg University Women's Wrestling team, Sunday's performance at the Alfred St. Open will certainly stand out for a long time. Behind individual titles from Audrey Miracle and Madi Allen, the Student Princes took top honors in the 13-team field. 

Miracle went 3-0 to win at 110. She started with a 10-0 tech fall over Karisma Washington (Buffalo St.), then pinned Rei Vlahov (Point Park) in 49 seconds.  Her closest bout of the day was her 11-3 decision over Haley Williams (Rio Grande).  

Allen earned a 5-0 record for the day at 131, winning two by injury default and one by forfeit. in contested bouts, she teched Jacqueline Mace (Utica) and pinned Deanna Williamson (Onondaga) in 3:47.  

Rylan Riffle took runner-up honors at 103, going 1-1. Her afternoon was highlighted by a pin of Faith Juwana (Nassau) in 1:44. 

At 145, Annabell Hunter also placed second -- going 2-1.  She picked up a pair of pins, sticking Piper Baumgarten (Maine Maritime) in seven(!) seconds, and Haylee Fessler (Lackawanna) in 47 seconds. 

Maggie Milbery, wrestling at 160, took third. She was 3-2 on the day, with all three wins coming by pin.  Adisyn Kramer also placed third, going 2-2 at 180. Both of her wins were falls. 

Hermoiney Greenler made her season debut, placing sixth at 160.   

Heidelberg is scheduled to return to action at next weekend's Spartan Mat Classic hosted by Manchester University.
