WESTERVILLE, Ohio -- Running their first full-length races of the season, the Heidelberg University Cross Country teams performed well at the Otterbein Cross Country Invitational on Saturday morning. The women's team placed sixth of 13 teams and the men's team was eighth of 14 teams.
Vanessa Shanaman was first for the Student Princes, running a 24:17.62 -- good for 29th out of 139 finishers.
Caitlin Schwartz was next, finishing 33rd with a 24:29.23.
Third for Heidelberg was
Lauren Hall's 24:49.13, followed by
Maddy McCall's 24:53.70. HU's fifth scorer was
Emily Pullano, who clocked a 25:19.37.
Emma Hintze,
Rachel Mohr, and Schwartz all ran PRs.
Dean Morrison was first across the line for The Berg, running a 27:21.64, scoring 31st.
Tyler Huff was close behind, scoring 33rd with a time of 27:27.83.
Trenton Hole and
Joe Brewster scored 40th and 41st, clocking 27:49.98 and 27:52.46 respectively. The fifth scorer was
Carson Elchert's PR of 29:37, scoring 69th place.
The teams will return to competition on the evening of Friday, Oct. 3, at the Ohio Wesleyan Invitational.
