Huff, Hintze lead XC at OWU

POWELL, Ohio – The Heidelberg Cross Country teams put up strong performances at the fast-paced Oberlin course. The men secured an impressive third place finish among 14 teams. The women were eighth in a field of 12. 

MEN

Senior Tyler Huff covered the 8k course in 25:43.1, finishing fifth overall. Huff demolished his previous career best by over 20 seconds. 

Dean Morrison finished second for the team, with a time of 26:13.1, also marking a career best. 

Joe Brewster followed with a time of 26:37.2. Close behind was Braden Cinato at 26:41.1 

Rounding out the scoring for Heidelberg, Thomas Katsares with a season best 26:54.

WOMEN

All five of the scorers for the women's side saw major personal records, with three shaving off over 60 seconds. 

Leading the women's side was Emma Hintze in a time of 25:22.8, cutting a minute off of her time since last meet. 

Sophomore Briana Westrick finished second for the team and earned a major personal best of 25:37.1, nearly two minutes off of her 6k debut at the Spartan Invitational.

Following the pattern, freshman Courage Bielawski also saw a hefty personal best. Clinching third for the team, Bielawski finished in a time of 25:45.7.

Ariana Hewitt took fourth for The Berg at 26:23.2, and Lydia Ruffing fifth at 26:51.2.

The Student Princes will return to the course on Saturday, October 17th at the Oberlin Intercollegiate Rumble. The women's 6k will begin at 12 p.m, the men's 8k to follow at 12:45 p.m.
