BLUFFTON, Ohio -- The Heidelberg University Cross Country teams opened up the 2025 season with second-place finishes among the college teams at Bluffton University's Beaver Dam Invitational.
Ohio Northern took top honors on both sides of the ledger.
For the women,
Vanessa Shanaman returned to the lineup to pace the Student Princes. She ran the 5K in 19:58.8 -- scoring 12th. Veteran
Maddy McCall was next, running a 20:19.8, scoring 13th.
Emily Pullano (20:45.0), Addie Horner (20:49.6) and
Lauren Hall (20:58.3) were the next three scorers, rounding out the top five.
Rachel Mohr (21:04.9),
Caitlin Schwartz (21:15.7),
Emma Hintze (22:06.5) and
Ana Henderson (23:36.9) also ran.
The men's team was led by
Joe Brewster's seventh-place finish in the 5K race. He crossed the line in 16:03.4. Freshman
Dean Morrison was next for HU, scoring 13th with a time of 16:15.0.
Trenton Hole and
Jackson Huff were 17th and 18th with times of 16:43.6 and 16:58.9, respectively.
Kam Johnson was HU's fifth scorer, crossing in 17:09.0 (19th).
