PORTAGE, Mich. -- In their final competition before the Ohio Athletic Conference Championship this weekend, the Heidelberg University Men's Golf team was the runner up at Kalamazoo College's Steven Tyler Memorial at The Moors Golf Club.
Josh Ferdon fired a +3 75 to finish second overall, one shot off the lead. The junior began his round on the fourth hole with a double bogey, but quickly righted the ship -- reeling off 12 straight pars. He ended the day with a birdie on the par-5 third.
Emerson Grassbaugh finished in a tie for third, carding a +8 80. Grassbaugh went birdie-par-birdie to start the back nine, his best stretch of the day.
Logan Niese (86, T-14) and
James Johnston (87, T-17) finished within a shot of each other.
Cameron Spraggins shot a 91.
The A-team finished with a 328, 10 strokes behind Earlham atop the leaderboard.
The B-team was comprised of

Matthew Kittle (87),
Max Schneckenburger (88),
Trey Mock (97) and
Brian Brady (109).
The 72-hole OAC Championship, hosted at River Greens Golf Club in West Lafayette, Ohio, begins with 27 holes on Friday. After another 27 holes on Saturday, the event will conclude with 18 on Sunday.
