Box Score 2 WESTERVILLE, Ohio -- The Heidelberg University Softball team was swept in an Ohio Athletic Conference doubleheader at Otterbein University on Saturday. The Cardinals took the opener, 7-6, then won the nightcap, 7-5, rallying for wins late in both games.
Heidelberg fell to 13-13 overall, 3-5 in the OAC.
GAME ONE: OTT 7-11-1 BERG 6-10-3
Heidelberg started hot, scoring in each of the first three innings.
Ellie Tressler homered in the first and
Lillie Robeson had an RBI single in the second. Two unearned runs in the third put HU ahead, 4-1, in the middle of the third.
The Cardinals scored two in the third and two in the fifth, taking a 5-4 lead.
Tressler connected on her second homer of the game in the top of the sixth, putting the Student Princes up, 6-5.
Otterbein tied it in the sixth and walked off in the seventh-- both via home runs.
GAME TWO: OTT 7-8-0 BERG 5-13-2
Leah Arnett put Heidelberg up in the first with a two-out, RBI single. Otterbein responded with a grand slam in the home half of the frame.
Gabbie Stallbaum,
Abbie Marshall, and
Emma Dean hit consecutive one-out doubles in the third, plating two. Robeson added a single, driving in pinch runner
Karissa Smith.
The game remained knotted at four into the sixth. Stallbaum broke the tie with a solo home run down the right field line -- the 28th of her career, putting her one shy of tying Mikaela Mitsch (2013-16) atop the career home run list. Stallbaum is currently tied with Abbey McKee (2015-18).
Otterbein pulled ahead with three in the bottom of the sixth and held on for the sweep.
