Women's Basketball Soars Past Earlham

TIFFIN — Joy filled Seiberling Gymnasium on Sunday afternoon as the Heidelberg University Women's Basketball team erupted for its first victory of the season, a dominant 84-50 win over Earlham College. From start to finish, it was the kind of energetic, confident performance the Student Princes have been waiting to unleash.

After a back-and-forth opening quarter, Heidelberg flipped the switch and never looked back. The Berg outscored Earlham 69–38 over the final three periods, showcasing swarming defense, relentless rebounding, and their best offensive execution of the year.

Freshman Tori See delivered a breakout masterpiece, pouring in 24 points on 11-of-18 shooting.

Right beside her was Mya Jones, who turned in one of the most efficient performances in Seiberling in recent memory: 20 points on 9-of-11 shooting, plus a monstrous 13 rebounds. Her inside presence powered a dominant 54–24 advantage in points in the paint. It was her second double-double in as many games.

Not to be outdone, Malia Mizeres caught absolute fire from three. The sophomore drilled four 3-pointers and finished with 12 points and 10 rebounds, her best all-around game of the season.

Brenna Williams provided a critical punch off the bench, giving Heidelberg timely buckets, rebounds, and energy — totaling 16 points and 12 boards in just 14 minutes.

Heidelberg played with cohesive aggression, winning nearly every statistical category, including rebounding (65–37), bench points (20–12), fast-break points (17–8), and second-chance points (15–6).

And perhaps most impressively, the Student Princes never let off the gas: after leading 32–22 at halftime, they dropped 25 in the third and 27 more in the fourth, turning a competitive game into a celebration.

Earlham struggled all afternoon against Heidelberg's length and pressure. The Berg held the Quakers to 25% shooting, including just 3-of-17 from deep, while forcing 15 turnovers and blocking nine shots.

When the horn sounded, the team celebrated their triumph. Heidelberg looked connected, confident, and full of joy.

Heidelberg returns to action on Wednesday at the University of Akron. The Zips and The Berg will tip at an unusual 11 a.m., playing in front of a lot of elementary school field trips.
