TIFFIN, Ohio – The Heidelberg University Women's Basketball team had their home opener Wednesday evening against the College of Wooster. HU fell to the Scots 85-47.The Student Princes got off to a strong start, but the Fighting Scots were able to surge back with a strong second quarter.
Mya Jones led the team with 14 points, going 8-of-11 from the line. Brenna Williams added 10 points.
Spurred on by early, HU led after one, 15-12.
The Fighting Scots took the lead early in the second quarter and expanded their lead to 11 by halftime.
In the third quarter, Heidelberg traded blows early with the visitors, before a 14-2 run allowed Wooster to pull away for good. Despite the deficit, the Student Princes showed toughness and determination throughout the contest.
Malia Mizeres had three assists to lead HU. Each of the active players for Heidelberg registered a point.
The Student Princes are back in action Saturday, Nov. 22 traveling to Ohio Wesleyan for a 2 p.m game.
