WBB takes down Quakers on Alumni Day

TIFFIN -- On Alumni Day, the Heidelberg University Women's Basketball delighted the home crowd with a commanding 67-57 win over Wilmington College inside Seiberling Gymnasium. The win improved Heidelberg's record to 2-13 overall and 1-7 in OAC play, while Wilmington fell to 4-11, 1-7 in the OAC.

The Student Princes featured a balanced offensive effort with four players scoring in double figures. Ashley Ballard led the way with 16 points and 11 rebounds, picking up her second double-double of the season. Morgan Altenburger added 12 points and controlled the glass with nine rebounds. Emma Keto contributed 11 points, five steals, and seven assists, while Emily Valencia chipped in 12 points, going a perfect 6-for-6 from the free-throw line.

Heidelberg put the game away in the fourth quarter, where they outscored Wilmington 18-6. Keto's clutch 3-pointer shut down a Quaker comeback, and a late triple by Ashley Ballard extended the lead, as Wilmington never got closer than four points down the stretch.

Defensively, the Student Princes were relentless, converting 19 Quakers miscues into 16 points. Heidelberg also capitalized on their offensive opportunities with 30 points in the paint and a season-high 54.5% shooting from beyond the arc. Their ball security was key, as they committed only 11 turnovers—their second-lowest total of the season.

Heidelberg returns to action against Ohio Northern in Ada. Tip-off is scheduled at 7:00 p.m.
