T&F tune up before OAC Championships

ASHLAND, Ohio – The Heidelberg University Men's and Women's Track & Field teams took part in the two-day Ashland University Alumni Open on Friday and Saturday.


Freshman Eric Barber finished third in the men's 3000 steeplechase where he had a final time of 11:10.03.


In the women's 800 meter run, Kylie Cope took second place with a run of 2:23.19. Not far behind her was Kenzie Fountain who clocked a 2:28.15.


On the men's side of the 800 meter run, freshman Vova Herdman clocked a 1:54.73, good for second place and also marking his collegiate best.  Teammate Hudson Black finished in seventh, setting a career best as well with a final time of 1:57.15.


The women's 5000 meter run featured Maddy McCall and Kenzie Smith who finished third and fourth with times of 21:28.89 and 21:46.39 respectively. 


Junior Lexi Wachtman led HU in the women's long jump with a leap of 5.24m. 


Graduate Student Liv Bean set a new career best in the women's triple jump with a final jump of 11.16m.


The men's and women's teams will be back on Thursday and Friday for the OAC Championships that will be held at Hoernemann Stadium.
