SAUGET, Ill - The Heidelberg University Baseball team split a pair of games today in Illinois. In game one, HU fell to Lawrence University, 11-4. Game two featured a five-run eighth inning to vault the Student Princes over North Park, 6-2.
For the weekend,
Braedy Limke notched six hits, while
Adam McVicker tallied five and
Aidan Corrigan added four.

Not much went Heidelberg's way in game one against the Vikings. Each team was scoreless heading into the second, but Lawrence opened things up, scoring seven runs -- two earned -- in the inning.
Down 10-0, the Student Princes added one run in the sixth inning thanks to an
Adam McVicker solo home run to right center. The Vikings plated one more in the seventh, stretching their lead to 11-1.
Aidan Corrigan started the top of the ninth with a home run to cut into the HU deficit.
Garrett LaBeau kept it rolling with a pinch hit single to center field.
Logan Winstead followed suit with a pinch hit double, giving HU runners in scoring position. A
Braedy Limke ground out allowed LeBeau to score and Winstead scored thanks to an error by the Vikings.
The rally was not enough in the end, resulting in the 11-4 loss. HU uncharacteristically kicked the ball around, tallying six errors. The Student Princes out hit Lawrence, 9-8.
Corbin Caplan got the start for the Orange and Black going 2.2 innings. He gave up nine runs on five hits and struck out five in the loss.

After two scoreless innings from both sides, Limke got the Student Princes on the board first when he went yard to left field to give HU the 1-0 advantage after three.
Andrew Cook found himself in some trouble in the top of the fourth. With runners on second and third and one out, Cook got Graham Porter to line into a double play to first, ending the inning unscathed.
North Park took the 2-1 lead in the fifth inning after they loaded the bases, then drew a hit batsman and a walk.
Heidelberg threatened in the bottom of the seventh but were unable to get runners across. The HU bats finally came alive in the bottom of the eighth.
LaBeau started the comeback when he got hit by a pitch to start the inning. Limke came to the plate next and stayed hot, ripping one down the right field line, giving HU runners on second and third with no outs.
A Corrigan groundout allowed pinch runner
Kyle Krummen to score, tying the score, 2-2. Following a Farley line out,
Adam McVicker was intentionally walked, putting runners on the corners.
Cort Kramer came in to pinch hit and drew a walk. With bases loaded and just one out, the Vikings yet again gave HU a free base, walking
Thomas Sauer. The walk gave the Student Princes the 3-2 lead.
Andrew Pokley added on, hitting a single to right field allowing Kramer and McVicker to cross the dish. Thanks to a North Park error, HU was able to add another insurance run making it 6-2 heading into the ninth.
Corey Brafford came into pitch in the ninth and did his job going three-up, three-down to seal the victory for Heidelberg.
Cook got the ball in game two, in three innings of work, he gave up one hit and zero runs while fanning four.
Logan Franz came in relief going four innings, giving up two hits and two runs.
Payton Moser got the win in one inning of action.
