BLUFFTON -- A slow start doomed the Heidelberg University Women's Basketball team, resulting in a 78-53 loss at Bluffton on Tuesday. 

Ashley Ballard had a team-high 14 points off the bench, while Lillian White and Kami Whiteaker both added 12 points. White's dozen came on a 4-for-5 shooting performance beyond the arc.

The Beavers doubled up The Berg in the first quarter, 26-13. Up 11 at halftime, the hosts outscored Heidelberg in the third, 25-9.  

Morgan Altenburger grabbed 12 rebounds, including seven offensive boards. Ballard added eight boards.

Heidelberg returns to action next Wednesday, opening up OAC play by hosting Capital. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
