ALMA, Mich. -- The Heidelberg University Women's Basketball team kicked off the 2024-25 season with a 64-49 loss at Alma College on Saturday. The Student Princes had nine players find the scoring column in the setback.
The Berg trailed 13-5 after one and were down 12 early in the second. Undeterred, Heidelberg sliced the deficit in half with back-to-back 3-pointers by
Emily Valencia and
Jewel Persinger.
Emma Keto added a triple later in the period.
The Scots added to their lead in the third, but Heidelberg outscored the hosts in the fourth, 22-18.
Ashley Ballard had a team-high nine points off the bench, tying for the team lead in rebounds (5) and assists (3).
Heidelberg returns to action on Wednesday at Earlham.
