HIRAM -- Despite holding a 30-11 edge in shots, the Heidelberg University women's soccer team settled for a scoreless draw at Hiram in the 2023 season opener.
Syd Hewer had a team-high eight shots while
Madi Lause added seven. Lause, Hewer, Mackenzie Damsa and
Mallory Zavatchen all recorded two shots on frame.
In goal,
Brigid Enright and
Meredith Bruce split time, each playing a half. Enright started and made two saves while Bruce had four in relief. Defenders
Olivia Perry,
Chloe Grevious,
Katelynn Helminiak and
Olivia Dulay played all 90 minutes in front of Enright and Bruce.
Terriers goalkeeper Skyler Huda made 11 saves in the tie.
Heidelberg hits the road on Thursday, traveling to Bethany College in West Virginia. The game is scheduled for a 4:30 p.m. start.
