TIFFIN -- The Heidelberg University Women's Soccer team hosted Bluffton University on Saturday afternoon as part of Parents Weekend. HU held the Beavers scoreless for the game while scoring the lone goal to secure the win, 1-0.
Heidelberg improves to 2-2-2 on the season, while Bluffton falls to 2-5-1.
The lone goal of the game came early in the first half, when
Caitlyn Cross set up
Madi Lause with a nice pass from the left side that Lause knocked in the back of the net. Although no other goals were scored, HU added ten more shots on goal, with
Makenzie Damsa and
Syd Hewer having a few near goal opportunities.
Defensively, Heidelberg was suffocating Bluffton as they held them to just eight shots total while the home team tallied 29 and controlled the ball for the majority of the game.
Goalkeepers
Brigid Enright and
Meredith Bruce split time in goal tallying three saves apiece in the win.
Heidelberg will be back in action on Wednesday as they travel to Oberlin College. Match time is set for 7 p.m.
