MARIETTA, Ohio -- The Heidelberg University women's basketball team closed the 2022-23 season with a 69-42 loss at Marietta College on Saturday.
Colleen Miller led the Student Princes with eight points while
Hallie Rogers added seven.
Emma Keto was 2-of-3 from long range -- her first career game with multiple 3-pointers.
Defensively,
Alyssa Martin finished with four blocked shots in the game, 25 for the season.
Marietta, which shot 35.8% from the floor, led wire to wire. The Pioneers led 10-0 early in the first, but Heidelberg outscored the hosts, 7-2, over the final 3:30.
In the second, the Pioneers reopened a double-digit lead and entered halftime with a 31-14 advantage.
Playing on Senior Day, Marietta continued its success in the second half.
Injuries and illnesses beset the youthful Student Princes for the 2022-23 season -- notably with the absence of
Bailey Walter, who suffered a season-ending injury in the final game of November. A total of 12 players averaged more than 10 minutes per contest, providing valuable experience for the Student Princes moving forward.
Rogers led the team with 237 points scored while
Ashley Ballard pulled down a team-high 133 rebounds.
Sequoia Bradley and
Elisha Carter tied for the team lead in assists with 31.
