MARIETTA -- The long bus trip down to Marietta was not fruitful for the Heidelberg University Women's Soccer team. The Pioneers scored once in the first half, then added two in the second for the win.
With two games remaining in the regular season, Heidelberg slipped to 4-8-2 overall, 2-5 in the OAC. Marietta improved to 5-7-2, 2-3-2.
The Pioneers broke a scoreless tie in the 19th minute with a goal by Angelene Kontul.
Kaylie Ward added an insurance goal in the 57th before Melissa Szawranskyj -- sister of former 'Berg volleyball standout Maddie Szawrasnkyj -- tacked one on in the 68th.
The Student Princes and Pioneers were even with 15 shots apiece.

Syd Hewer each had four.
Meredith Bruce made four saves for HU.
Heidelberg returns home for the final two games -- Wednesday against Capital and Saturday against Wilmington. Wednesday's match against the Comets is currently scheduled for 4 p.m. at the Hidden Valley Soccer Complex.
