TIFFIN -- The Heidelberg University Men's soccer team hosted non-conference foe Wittenberg on Wednesday. Though they showed improvement defensively, the Student Princes were unable to garner any offense, resulting in a 2-0 defeat.
Heidelberg falls to 0-8-1 while Wittenberg improves to 6-2-1.
In what was a physical match between both sides, the Tigers controlled the offensive side of the ball for most of the game. Wittenberg tallied 24 shots to Heidelberg's three. Both goals from the visitors came in the first half of play.
Although the Tricolor were not on the winning side, Goalkeeper
Sigurd Ilestad totalled thirteen saves, which included a spectacular diving save in the 22nd minute of the first half.
Heidelberg returns to action on Saturday as they will open conference play taking on Muskingum University. The match is set for 7 p.m.
