Game Recap: Women's Volleyball |

VB denied in Illinois

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. -- The Heidelberg University volleyball team traveled to illinois Wesleyan University for a three-game weekend set against tough competition, but returned to Tiffin empty handed.  Heidelberg was swept by Wisconsin Whitewater and Illinois Wesleyan, and fell to Aurora in four.

Heidelberg dropped to 5-10 on the season.

In the loss to Whitewater, Heidelberg attacked at a .071 clip and was led by Liana Petitti's eight kills.  The Warhawks made quick work of the Student Princes, winning 25-15, 25-17, 25-14 on Friday night.

Saturday morning's match --  a 25-18, 25-22, 25-16 setback to the hosts -- saw a similar struggle offensively.  HU hit .109, with Lexi Evak's seven kills leading the way.  Three players finished with 10+ digs in the match, libero Nicole Thomas (18), Jeylo Hernandez Rodriguez and Natalie Chiles (10 each).

Heidelberg won the second set against Aurora, but struggled to carry over the momentum in a 25-19, 21-25, 25-13, 25-15 loss.  HU hit .092, bolstered by Evak's nine kills.  Camille Pohl was a perfect 20-for-20 in receptions and added nine digs.  Thomas had 27 digs.  At the net, HIU had a total of nine blocks, with Riley Ameel assisting on six of them.

Up next, the team travels to Case Western Reserve University on Wednesday.  First serve with the Spartans is scheduled for 7 p.m.
