ADA, Ohio -- Heidelberg University volleyball wrapped up a disappointing weekend at the Ohio Northern Invitational with a pair of losses on Saturday. HU fell to Depauw in the morning, 3-1, then dropped a five-setter to Earlham in the afternoon. The Student Princes fell to 5-6 on the year.
In game one, HU fell to Depauw, 28-26, 24-26, 25-19, 25-21. The Berg won a close second set to notch things at 1-1 but were unable to capitalize off the momentum in the next two sets.
Lexi Evak put up double digits in the kills category with 14.
Liana Petitti tallied 8 while
Grace Porter (7) and
Hope Cuppett (6) added a handful of their own.
Juliana Pena and
Kelsey Custenborder cleaned up on assists, dishing out 19 and 17. Libero
Nicole Thomas also added two of her own.
Three players notched double digits in digs, with
Nicole Thomas leading the way with 22.
Liana Petitti had 12, and
Julianna Pena had 11 of her own.
In the afternoon, HU fell 25-18, 25-22, 23-25, 17-25, 15-8, to the Quakers. Porter led the way with 11 kills and Evak added 10.
The back row was anchored, once again, by the libero Thomas. She picked up 40 digs in the game. Pena had 24 assists.
Heidelberg will be back in action on Wednesday as they will host Denison at 7 p.m.
