TIFFIN -- On Senior Day, the Heidelberg University women's lacrosse team fell to Mount Union, 19-4. Prior to the game,
Kelly Spence,
Kerry Hastings,
Courtney Moggio,
Payton Dawson, and
Sydney Shaffer -- along with graduate assistant
Taylor Fox-Trudel, were honored for their contributions to the program.
Mount Union methodically built a 17-0 lead by the halftime horn, but Heidelberg was undeterred.
Gianna Ricci scored HU's first goal 2:30 into the third quarter. Mount would add two more goals in the third period.
Heidelberg scored the final three goals of the game. Ricci scored on a free position shot late in the third. Shaffer added a goal less than four minutes into the final frame.
Hannah Kaplan wrapped up the scoring with a goal at the 4:24 mark.
Spence had three ground balls and caused two turnovers.
Ella Lane made 15 saves.
Heidelberg returns to action for a Friday matinee at Muskingum. The game is scheduled for a 12 p.m. start.
